概要

This study examines the impact of socio-environmental certification of Brazilian coffee farms on deforestation control, habitat protection and regeneration, and connectivity. The study compared the surrounding landscapes of certified farms before and after nine years of certification with non-certified farms. To determine landscape changes the study used probabilistic indices of functional connectivity based on graph theory, and two different mammals with contrasting habitat requirements. Results show that the difference between certified and non-certified farms are subtle, however, certification helped with deforestation control and the conservation of the mammals studied.
