概要
This article analyses the economic sustainability of Fair Trade/organic and Rainforest Alliance certified coffee cultivated by farmers in Mexico and Peru. Data from the following two sources were used: A random-stratified sample of 845 coffee growers in Mexico collected between 2005 and 2006. The second source was data from cooperative records and household surveys from between 2006 and 2010, gathered in Peru. The analysis mainly looks at the net cash return of coffee, as primary economic measurement of welfare of small-scale coffee growers.
