概要
This report focuses on how being Fairtrade certified contributes to Fairtrade Producer Organisations' resilience and to the wellbeing of its members. To analyse the effects of Fairtrade certification on resilience, primary and secondary data was collected on three different research levels, including 1) a literature review, 2) a global survey, and 3) case studies. The report found that Fairtrade certification contributed to building the resilience of Producer Organisations by providing immediate relief support, a safety net to price fluctuations, credit/loan support, capacity building support via producer networks, and better participatory decision making via requirements under the Fairtrade standards. Further recommendations were made for Fairtrade to expand opportunities for producers to sell produce at higher price, provide capacity building on good financial management, and further encourage income diversification, amongst others.
