概要

Communities facing negative impacts of palm oil development projects can recur to the complaints procedure of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). This report analyses experiences from support to Indonesian and Liberian communities having used the RSPO complaint mechanism to figure out how communities are most likely to reach their goals. While evidence shows that the combination of judicial and non-judicial strategies tend to be more successful, RSPO can accompany but not substitute advocacy for broader legal and governance reform, , such as pledges at national courts, media campaigns, regional and international human rights law procedures and the complaints procedures of major international finance institutions.
