This working paper examines Fairtrade and Organic certification in Ethiopia's coffee sector, analysing the transmission of export quality premiums to producers. The authors find limited transmisison, with only one-third passed to the producer, and argue that small export premiums and low production levels mean that even a perfect transmission scenario would have little effect on an average farmer's welfare.
